Parliamentary Assembly of NATO, Kosovo becomes an associate member

The NATO Parliamentary Assembly has approved today the recommendation to advance Kosovo’s status from observer member to associate member.
The news was announced by President Vjosa Osmani in a post on the social media platform X.
The majority of countries voted in favor of advancing Kosovo’s status, one vote was against, and 14 other countries abstained, at the Assembly meeting held in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Kosovo’s President, Vjosa Osmani, thanks the member countries that approved Kosovo’s position advancement and expresses that the future of the country she leads is within NATO.
“This decision will ensure that the voice of the most pro-NATO people in the world is heard. We will continue our efforts, along with our allies, to advance on our path towards NATO membership,” writes Osmani in a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
