The President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, greeted through a post on his Facebook account the approval of the recommendation for Kosovo’s membership in the CoE by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

“I welcome today’s decision of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). I thank all those who have worked on and supported Kosovo’s rightful request to join the Council of Europe. Now, we await only the final step in May, which also marks the well-deserved moment to celebrate,” wrote President Begaj immediately after the voting results were announced.

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe supported Kosovo’s membership in this organization with a majority of votes. 171 deputies voted in favor, and only 29 deputies were against. Serbia had submitted several amendments opposing the support for Kosovo, but all of its amendments were rejected.
