The US Assistant State Secretary for Europe and Eurasia, James O’Brien, has said that the United States is monitoring the movements of the Serbian army near the border with Kosova and that the United States has informed Serbia that the use of force will was unacceptable.

“In Serbia, the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, knows very well that any use of force against Kosova would be unacceptable, it would be considered endangering NATO forces, which are there to protect the population, Albanians and Serbs. He said that there will be no use of force“.

He called on Kosova and Serbia to take action to reduce tensions in the region.

O’Brien made these statements in a conversation with online journalists.

The US official also said that it has made clear to Serbia that the persons involved in the attack on September 24, 2023 in Banjska of Zveçan must be held responsible.

Kosovan Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, said on March 21 that units of the Serbian army were spotted a few meters away from the border with Kosova, and described these movements as “intentional provocations”.

On Friday, the Ministry of Defense of Serbia called Kurti’s statements part of the disinformation campaign about the Serbian army.

According to said ministry, the forces of the Serbian army are performing their duties in the safe administrative zone, in accordance with all the signed agreements.
