Kosova carries out the census from April 5 to May 17

The Statistics Agency of Kosova has made all the preparations for the population, household and housing census process.
The process starts on April 5 and lasts until May 17.
“The trainings for the main staff have been completed, while in the following weeks supervisors and registering stuff will be trained, including the municipal commissions,” – confirmed the head of the Statistics Agency, Avni Kastrati.
He clarified that the registration process is legally binding for every citizen and there will be sanctions for those who refuse.
Kastrati also underlined that the territory of Kosova has been divided into zones and for each municipality, the exact number of registering stuff has been already determined. The registration of residents of municipalities with a Serbian majority in the north of Kosova, – Leposavic, Zubin Potok, Zveçan and North Mitrovica, takes place for the first time.
In addition, Kastrati said that in addition to residents living in Kosova, the aim is to register the Diaspora through some special methods. “Preliminary data is expected to be published three months after the end of the registration process,” stated Kastrati.
According to the census made in 2011, the total number of residents in Kosova was estimated to be around 1.8 million.
