Telat Xhaferi, the first Albanian PM in North Macedonia/ Ahmeti: Opportunity for EU membership opens

Talat Xhaferi is expected to take office on Sunday as the first Albanian Prime Minister in North Macedonia after voting in the Assembly on the composition of the interim government that will lead the country to the elections that will be held in May.
The head of the Democratic Union for Integration, Ali Ahmeti addressed the citizens with a speech calling Sunday a historic day.
“Four years ago from this place I addressed you with the words “everything begins with a dream”. I told you that we all have our dreams for our children. Freedom and equality do not come easily, they also require faith that the goal will be achieved. That’s how I believed in the Ohrid agreement and in the officialization of the Albanian language”, said Ahmeti.
He expresses the belief that they will become part of NATO and that the opportunity for membership in the EU will be opened.
“I believe that we will soon join the EU because it is our ideal. Sunday, January 28th is a historic day, we will elect the first Albanian Prime Minister of North Macedonia. This day is historic both for the Albanians and for the Macedonians because we are becoming an equal state and society and we are overcoming all prejudices, together we undertake the responsibility of lead the country not one after the other, side by side for a European North Macedonia “, emphasizes the head of DUI.
“I am grateful that you trusted us, that you lined up behind our dream and that this trust of yours will be rewarded tomorrow with a promise kept and with a job done and an accomplished dream. Our country will become stronger and more united. This is just the beginning, we still have a lot of work to do to fulfil our dreams”, said Ali Ahmeti.
