The EU rejects Kurti’s proposal to treat separately the Kosova-Serbia dialogue and the EU integration process

European Union officials have rejected Kosovan Prime Minister, Albin Kurti’s proposal to separate the European integration process from the dialogue for the normalization of relations between Kosova and Serbia.
Brussels has repeated the appeal that without progress in the process of normalizing relations between the two countries, there is no progress in the integration process.
“The European Union was very clear in many cases, but also in legal documents, that the path of Kosova and Serbia to the EU passes through dialogue facilitated by the EU. In other words, no progress in the dialogue, means no progress in the EU membership process,” said the spokesperson of the European Union Peter Stano.
Kurti had proposed that the integration process for Kosova be separated from the process of normalizing relations with Serbia.
On the other hand, EU officials do not think the same. They have announced that it is unlikely that this proposal will be implemented, since the essence of the European Union enlargement process is precisely related to the resolution of open issues with the neighbors.
