Prime Minister Edi Rama announced that he is in discussions with the government of Kosovo about the railway project connecting Durres with Pristina.

In a press conference following a two-day meeting at the beginning of the year to discuss the priorities of 2024, held in Lezhë, Prime Minister Rama stated that the connection through Shkodra is considered the best solution, even from the perspective of Kosovo.

“We are in intensive communication with the government of Kosovo regarding the progress of the strategic project of the Durrës-Prishtina railway. There is a principled agreement from both relevant structures of the two governments to explore a change of line passing through Shkodra. The plan is to extend the Vorë-Hani i Hoti railway from Shkodra to Han i Hoti, connecting Gjakovë and Prishtina. This solution is also desired by the Kosovo side,” declared the Prime Minister.
