In an interview, Shkumbin Ahmetxhekaj, the General Director of Kosovo Public Radio and Television (RTK), emphasized the crucial importance of understanding the role that public media plays in society. He highlighted the roles of combating false information and providing a platform for the creation of artistic programs. His vision for RTK involves transforming it by incorporating a diverse range of educational, informative, and cultural programs.

“To transform RTK and enhance it with educational, informative, and cultural programs, we require increased budgetary support from the Assembly. Currently, the budget is notably small, with a reduction of 50%,” Ahmetxhekaj cited.

RTK deserves to be financed in accordance with the law to deliver higher-quality programs. It is crucial to comprehend the pivotal role that public media plays in society, combating misinformation, and producing artistic programs,” he emphasized.

When asked about his favorite programs, Ahmetxhekaj expressed a particular fondness for documentaries. He highlighted the professionalism exhibited in RTK’s documentary productions, stating, “I really enjoy watching them. As for the entertainment segment, it meets the standards I aim to see.”

As for collaborative projects with RTSH, Ahmetxhekaj revealed plans for a gala concert in 2024.
