Varhelyi: The EC will bring an accelerated plan for the integration of the Balkans into the EU market

EU Enlargement Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi says that the EU will continue to support the Western Balkans region. Varhelyi said that the EC will bring an accelerated plan for the integration of the Balkans into the European economic market.
This demonstrates that the EU shows results for its work. We are bringing important financing to the private sector for private investors to transform your economy so that it is even more attractive for investment. We have invested 1 billion euros to help those vulnerable citizens in order to deal with extreme price increases.
We have made it clear that our support will continue for energy as well, providing energy in a sustainable manner. We are supporting projects in a renewable way. We are ready to finance a new LNG terminal in Montenegro. The region to benefit from these investments must be economically integrated. We are fully convinced that we have even more potential. The region will be able to add 1/3 of its GDP.
We have talked about previous expansion waves, about how best to prepare for the integrated expansion of the region. This plan also targets the acceleration of economic integration and there will be opportunities for Western Balkans to be integrated into the EU market without becoming a member.
Europe is here to contribute, but the region must also show its results. Let’s help the region to be transformed,’said Verhelyi.
