Osmani: We are two states, but our destinies are intertwined

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani stated today in a press confeence with Begaj that Albania should be the voice of Kosovo in all those institutions and international organizations, where Kosovo has not yet become part of, highlighting that :We [Albania and Kosovo] are two states, but our destinies are intertwined”.
After the bilateral meeting, Osmani asked for the unification of foreign policy, underlining that this was also the purpose of her visit.
Osmani added that “Kosovo and Albania have a unique, historical, cultural and national connection that makes our cooperation and connection strong and unbreakable. In the face of challenges we remain united in one goal: stability, prosperity and Euro-Atlantic integration of our countries. The Albanian nation has always been and continues to be a factor of stability in the region, with a clear Euro-Atlantic orientation,” said Osmani.
Kosovo is not recognized by all countries internationally, so President Osmani emphasized the need for support from Albania, to be its voice in instances where Kosovo is not yet represented.
“Our state and strategic goal remains membership in NATO and the EU, as well as in all other organizations where we have a state interest. The strengthening of continuous coordination in foreign policy is beneficial not only to our countries, but also to the region and beyond. That’s why the main word of my visit is the coordination for a unified foreign policy strategy and action,” said Osmani.
In the last 12 years, 41 inter-ministerial, inter-institutional government agreements have been signed between Albania and Kosovo.
Osmani said that they aim to strengthen our states and make the lives of citizens easier.
“The State of Kosovo, like Albania, has a clear pro-European and Euro-Atlantic orientation. We support the United States of America, the European Union and democratic countries, not only in terms of developments in the region, but throughout our continent, especially with the challenges we are facing as a continent in these last two years. We are determined to contribute to peace and stability, and to defend together the values that are being threatened and attacked by Russia and its satellites in the region. It’s our obligation to work together for the advancement of the interests of all Albanians in the region, whose basic rights are constantly violated, such as those who live in Presheva, Medvegja and Bujanovc,”declared President Osmani.
Serbia remains the biggest challenge for Kosovo in its international journey.
“As long as Serbia’s state policy is constantly challenging Kosovo’s territorial integrity and engaging in institutional aggression against Kosovo on a regular basis, we will need the support of Albania as well as the support of our Euro-Atlantic allies and partners. The only way brings peace and stability to our entire region is when the final result will be mutual recognition and preservation of the territorial integrity, sovereignty, constitutional order and internal functionality of the Republic of Kosovo,” said the head of state of Kosovo.
