Kosova on the International Day of the Disappeared, President Osmani declares that Serbia has an obligation to provide information

Kosova commemorates today (August 30) the International Day of the Disappeared.
While more than 24 years have passed since the last war in Kosova, the families of more than 1,600 missing persons are still waiting for answers about their fate and the location of their loved ones.
Kosovan President Vjosa Osmani, and the Assembly Speaker of Kosova, Glauk Konjufca paid tribute to the Memorial of the Missing in Prishtina.
Osmani said that Serbia bound by the declaration reached in Brussels to provide information about the missing persons, while calling on the international community to condemn this approach of Serbia.
“In observance to the request of the Government Commission made in June of this year to the President of Serbia to open all those archives in accordance with the obligation of
Agreement of Brussels and Ohrid, unfortunately Serbia still continues to make flagrant violations of these obligations and continues to repeat its crimes by hiding the presence of persons who disappeared by the violence during the last war in Kosova. I call on the international community and allied friends to think about the parents and family members who are still missing in the cemeteries of Serbia,” Kosovan President underscored.
After the end of the war in Kosova, in 1999, there were about 6,500 people missing. Since then, several exhumations have been carried out in mass graves both in Kosova and Serbia and until now only 70 percent of the missing have been found.
