The European Commissioner for Enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi, has welcomed the decision of the Serbian authorities to release from detention the three Kosovo police officers arrested 12 days ago.

Through a post on the Twitter social network, Varhelyi has called for the de-escalation to continue, and the new elections in the north of Kosovo to be organized without delay.

“I welcome that the Serbian authorities released the 3 previously arrested Kosovo policemen from custody. The de-escalation must continue, the new municipal elections must be organized without delay, the agreement for the normalization of dialogue must be implemented, including the creation of the association of municipalities with a Serbian majority”,  Varhelyi writes.
