EU Foreign ministers to discuss tensions in the North of Mitrovica and dialogue with Serbia

EU Foreign Ministers will discuss this Monday on the dialogue between Kosova and Serbia, and the recent tensions between the two countries.
Initially, the chief diplomat for Foreign Policy and Enlargement, Joseph Borell is expected to report to the ministers before the opening of discussions.
Except for the discussion of measures the European bloc can take to convince the parties to immediately start talks on reducing tensions, formal decisions are not expected to be made at this meeting.
After the last meetings that Borrell held with the two leaders in Brussels, the Prime Minister of Kosova Albin Kurti and the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic a week ago, the EU expects a reduction in tensions.
Tensions in northern Kosova increased on May 26, when the new Albanian mayors of the Serb-majority northern municipalities entered municipal buildings in Zveçan, Leposaviç and Zubin Potok. Tensions increased even more when the Serbian authorities kidnapped three members of the Kosova Police, who were released today.
In recent days, the Kosova authorities have been arresting several members of the Serb community, who participated in the violence against members of the NATO mission in Kosova, KFOR, the Kosova Police and journalists reporting.
