Borrell after the meeting with Kurti in Brussels: Let’s find a solution to get out of the crisis

Head of EU foreign policy, Joseph Borrell has stated that the situation in the north of Kosova continues to be tense and that during the meeting with Prime Minister Albin Kurti, the aim is to find a solution for the immediate de-escalation.
“The situation in the north of Kosova continues to be very tense. Today, we aim to find immediate de-escalation solutions and move forward,” Borrell wrote on Twitter.
After the meeting with Kurti, Borell will also receive the President of Serbia, Aleksandër Vucic. The latter confirmed today his presence at the meeting in Brussels, but emphasized that he will not sit at a table with Prime Minister Kurti.
The discussions will focus on finding a solution to the situation created in the north of Kosova that has further strained relations between Kosova and Serbia. Kurti has emphasized several times that in this meeting he will insist on the release of 3 Kosovo police officers who are still in custody in Serbia. Meanwhile, internationals have called for measures to calm the situation down, warning of consequences for Kosova and Serbia.
Earlier, the External Service of the European Union emphasized that “the high representative, Josep Borrell, accompanied by the special envoy, Miroslav Lajcak, will have a series of meetings on crisis management with the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, and the prime minister of Kosova, Albin Kurti”.
We remind you that the installation of new mayors in the municipalities in the north of Kosova was accompanied by violent acts by Serbian protesters, who attacked KFOR soldiers, Kosova police, while not even sparing the media and journalists of Albania and Kosova. While on June 15, the situation reached the peak, when Serbian forces kidnapped three border officers inside the territory of Kosova.
The meetings in Brussels of head of EU foreign policy, Borell with Kurti and Vucic are likely to be only bilateral meetings. The spokeswoman of the EU, Nabila Massrali, in a press conference, did not indicate whether or not there will be a trilateral meeting.
“I did not say that there will be no meeting between them. It is important that they will be in Brussels today, at the invitation of the high representative. Let’s see how the meetings will go, and then we can know more,” answered Massrali, when asked if there will be consequences for those who refuse to meet.
