Lajcak meets American senators: De-escalation, necessary in Kosova

The increased tensions between Kosova and Serbia have been the focus of the EU, which has occasionally called for the normalization of the dialogue between the two countries.
With this end in view, the EU Special Representative for the dialogue between Belgrade and Prishtina, Miroslav Lajçak, during his visit to the United States of America, met with American Senators Chris van Hollen and Chris Murphy, where he emphasized the need for the de-escalation of the situation in Kosova, the return to dialogue and the normalization of the situation between the two countries.
“An important meeting on Capitol Hill with Senators Chris van Hollen and Chris Murphy. We have carefully reviewed the development of the situation in the Western Balkans and have the same assessments. We agreed that de-escalation and a return to dialogue and normalization are needed,” Lajcak writes on his Twitter account.
Earlier, the American envoy for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, stated that the meeting between Kosova Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbian President Aleksandër Vucic is not expected to be held this week.
Meanwhile Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti departs for Brussels today, to take part in the high-level dialogue meeting called by the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Policy and Security, Josep Borrell.
