The crisis in the north, Escobar and Lajcak in the US in search of a solution for the resumption of the Kosova-Serbia dialogue

The crisis created in the north of Kosova after the Serb protests against the installation of the newly elected mayors in their offices and the violence against KFOR, the police and journalists, and the kidnapping of three Kosova officers by the Serbian forces, has put in movement the international factor to find a solution to this situation.

Miroslav Lajcak, the Envoy of the European Union for the dialogue Kosova and Serbia, has traveled to Washington where he will meet with the US Envoy for the Balkans, Gabriel Escobar.

Escobar and Lajcak will participate in the Atlantic Council to discuss the developments in the north of Kosova, the Belgrade-Prishtina dialogue, and the cooperation between the US and the EU in the region.

In the announcement of the Atlantic Council, it is explained that this meeting will discuss how to ensure the implementation of Ohrid and Brussels agreements.” Furthermore, this event will provide insight into how the US and the EU intend to help ease tensions and find possible solutions for Serbia and Kosova to establish more stable relations.

In the announcement of the Atlantic Council, it is also noted that the recent progress in the normalization of relations between Serbia and Kosova through the Belgrade-Prishtina dialogue facilitated by the EU is threatened by the escalation of tensions in the north of Kosova.
