Situation in north of Kosova, Borrell invites Kurti and Vucic to a meeting next week in Brussels

The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Policy and Security, Josep Borrell, has announced that he will invite the Prime Minister of Kosova, Albin Kurti, and the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, next week in Brussels, to a meeting on the management of the situation of created in the north of Kosova.
According to Borrell, the situation has worsened and that currently, according to him, everything has returned to the crisis management phase, so he will invite the parties to an urgent meeting.
“We must call for calm on the ground. Seeing the situation getting worse, we are back in the crisis management phase. I will invite the two parties, Kosovo and Serbia, for a crisis management meeting next week in Brussels,” Borrell said.
Considering the kidnapping of three Kosovo police officers by Serbian forces an arrest, Borrel says that “we are in close contact with the KFOR Command and with both sides, in order to see what exactly happened that led to this arrest”
“You know that there was an incident with the arrest of three police officers from Kosova and we are trying to understand what exactly happened. We are in close contact with the KFOR Command and with both sides, in order to see what exactly happened that led to this arrest”.
Borrell made this statement on the eve of a meeting with NATO ministers.
On June 14, the Kosovo authorities said that three of its police officers were kidnapped by the Serbian authorities, near the border point. Serbia, on the other hand, has said that it has arrested the Kosovo policemen, deep in the Serbian territory.
Tensions in the north of Kosova have been high since May 26, when the new Albanian mayors of the municipalities in the north entered the municipal buildings. The Serbian minority in that part of Kosova opposed it with protests and acts of violence since May 29.
Serbia continues to hold three Kosovo policemen whom it has kidnapped.
