US lawmaker Ritchie Torres has criticized the administration of President Joe Biden for the US attitude towards Kosova.

Through a video message, the democratic lawmaker from New York, who is also the co-chairman of the group for Albanian issues in the Congress, emphasizes that “the battle between democracy and autocracy is one of the main challenges for the 21st century”.

For this reason, he poses a question as to why the US Department of State is behaving in this way, wrongly judging democratic Kosova and making concessions to an autocratic country like Serbia.

“Why is the US Department of State wrongly judging democratic Kosova by making concessions to Serbia, an increasingly autocratic country”, he said.

Ritchie Torres points out that Kosova is a staunch ally of the USA, while Serbia, according to him, has long been and continues to be a satellite in the orbit of Russia and China.

“Serbia has refused to impose sanctions on Russia, after the aggression in Ukraine and Putin’s crimes against the civilian population there. Given these facts, one wonders why State Department insists on making concessions to a satellite state of Russia, at the expense of a stable democratic ally like Kosova,” said the US congressman.

He addressed the State Department that the time has come to place his support where the values of the USA, of true democracies like Kosova, lie.
