The envoy of the European Union for the Western Balkans reacted after the meeting that he and the US envoy, Gabriel Escobar, held in Belgrade with President Aleksandar Vucic, where the situation in the north of Kosova was in focus.

In a post on Twitter, Lajçak writes that violence is never acceptable, as he calls for a political solution “urgently”.

“In Belgrade, Escobar and I had long discussions with President Vucic about the complex situation of the Serbs in Kosova. Violence is never acceptable and a political solution to the current crisis is urgently needed. We appreciated his willingness to contribute,” writes Lajçak.

On Monday, Lajçak and Escobar held a meeting in Prishtina with Prime Minister Albin Kurti, where they presented the proposal on behalf of the international community that contained three elements, which consisted of the recent developments in the north, ideas for de-escalation of the situation and the emergency for implementation of the agreement between Prishtina-Belgrade.
