Early elections if the protests stop

The conditions for early elections in the north of Kosova constitute the end of violent protests in front of the municipality premises in Zveçan, Leposavic and Zubin Potoku, and the full implementation of the agreement recently reached in the negotiations in Brussels, said the Prime Minister of Kosova, Albin Kurti, after telephone conversations with several senators and representatives of the US administration.
Kurti, who justified the intervention of the police and KFOR troops in defense of democratic institutions, described the international community’s criticism on Prishtina’s leadership as excessive, especially from the EU, US and the Quint.
The removal of the violent crowds from the municipal buildings and the full implementation of the Brussels agreement is the way to avoid tensions and to the early elections,” said Kurti.
The high representative of the EU, Josep Borrell has called for early elections in the north, with the participation of the local Serbian population, together with the start of preparations for the creation of the Community of Serbian Municipalities in Kosova, otherwise there would be “serious consequences” in respect to relations with Prishtina.
