Tensions in the North of Kosova, US condemns the acts of violence, it must be stopped immediately

The ambassador of the United States in Kosova, Jeff Hovenier has condemned the violence in the north of Kosova, demanding that it be stopped immediately.
“The USA condemns the action taken by the Kosova authorities to enter the municipal buildings in the north of Kosovo. Today’s violence must be stopped immediately,” Hovenier wrote on Twitter.
Earlier, the Kosova Police entered the municipal facilities of Zveçan and Zubin Potok, after facing the resistance of a group of Serbian citizens.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Prime Minister of Kosova, Besnik Bislimi has stated that public institutions have an obligation to ensure the conditions to exercise their duties and responsibilities.
“As mayors of municipalities, they can exercise their responsibilities only from the buildings of the municipality,” said Bislimi, adding that “they come with a vote, they can also be overthrown by a vote,” declared Besnik Bislimi.
He stated that the elected citizens, as a rule, rarely enjoy the support of each citizen, adding that this does not mean that dissatisfied citizens can block elected officials from going to their workplaces. Bislimi such practice would lead to absurd situations where no mayor, in any municipality, would be able to exercise own duty.
Earlier in the four municipalities in the north of the country, respective mayors started their duty while encountering the resistance of the local Serbs who do not accept them as their elected ones. For this reason, the intervention of the police was needed, where five Kosova officers were injured.
