The Commissioner of the European Union for Enlargement and Neighborhood, Oliver Varhelyi, is conducting an official visit to Kosova.

“Kosova is set on its journey to become a member of the European Union”, said the EU Commissioner for Enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi, at the joint press conference with President Vjosa Osmani.

He added that it is important for Kosova to continue with reforms, especially in the field of justice.

“We had a very good discussion with President Osmani. Kosova is determined on its journey to become a member of the European Union. We appreciate that Kosova has aligned with us against Russia’s aggression in Ukraine. The reforms must be continuous and applicable, we need a record of them”, he declared.

Varheley also said that he welcomes the government’s commitment to improving the justice system, in the fight against corruption.

“It is necessary to fight against the high level of corruption and organized crime. Kosova is in the early stages of addressing these issues. Kosova is a strategic place for attracting businesses, but for this favorable conditions must be created. Likewise, violence against the media, this must be stopped, we must protect the media”, he declared.

The EU commissioner also spoke about the Kosova-Serbia talks, as he said that the whole region would benefit from the normalization of relations between Kosova and Serbia.

He also spoke about the issue of investments in Kosova and the common regional market.
