EP Foreign Affairs Committee approves the report on Kosova/ Kurti: We are on the right track

The Committee for Foreign Policy of the European Parliament approved this Wednesday (April 26) with 44 votes in favor, 8 against and 3 abstentions, the report on Kosova.
The draft report (with over 300 amendments) was presented by the rapporteur for Kosova in the European Parliament, Viola Von Cramon-Taubadel. According to REL, the report contains general points similar to previous years’ reports, but also takes into account developments that have occurred in the meantime. This report welcomes Kosova’s application for membership in the European Union, which reflects the pro-European orientation of its citizens and the clear geopolitical determination.
The Prime Minister of Kosova, Albin Kurti, in his speech at the government meeting, stated that the decision to liberalize visas for citizens of Kosovo, as well as the acceptance of Kosova’s application to the Council of Europe, confirm that Kosova is on the European path.
“From January 1, 2024, citizens will be able to travel to 32 other European countries, including Bulgaria, Romania and Cyprus, which are not part of Schengen. This week an important decision was made in Strasbourg. On April 24, the Committee of Ministers with over 2/3 of the necessary votes voted to accept Kosvoa’s application for membership. The increasingly better results for the 3 EC values have influenced this great achievement.
These two important decisions in less than 1 week confirm our European path, confirm that we are on the right path and confirm that Kosova belongs to Europe as a union, as a value”, he said.
