Borrell: The agreement on the missing persons, the first step in fulfilling the Kosova-Serbia commitments

The high representative of the European Union for Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell said that the implementation of the Ohrid agreement for the normalization of relations between Kosova and Serbia has taken the first step, which deals with missing persons during the war.

Borrell said that the EU expects the two countries to fulfill their obligations and that the agreement reached by the chief negotiators on the missing persons be approved as soon as possible at the leaders’ level.

Serbia and Kosova committed to the Agreement on the road to normalization and its annex. The EU expects both to respect all its obligations and start implementation as soon as possible. The parties must avoid any escalation.

The translation of their commitments to their European routes is ongoing. The agreement they reached on the text of the declaration on missing persons at meeting of the chief negotiators is the first step. We will approve it at the leaders’ level at the next high-level meeting I will convene, Borrell wrote.

In the meeting between chief negotiators Besnik Bislimi and Petar Petkovic, an agreement was reached on the drafting of the statement for the missing persons, which is also part of the annex to the agreement reached at the Ohrid meeting on March 18.
