Osmani at the Democracy Summit: Appeal to countries to recognize Kosovo. They will have an ally on their side

The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has called on the states that have not yet recognized it as a state of Kosovo to do so, as they would have by their side not only a friend but also a devoted ally.
“Today I want to take the opportunity to call on friendly countries around the world to stand with Kosovo and for those countries that have not yet recognized our state and our democratic institutions, to join the majority of countries in the world and do so. You will not only gain a friend, but a devoted ally”, said Osmani.
This statement was made by Osmani during her speech at the Summit for Democracy organized by the American president, Joe Biden. The president said that Kosovo works hard to strengthen democracy and consolidate democratic values, while she appreciated the countries that supported Kosovo on its way to freedom.
“I remind you that you, dear colleagues, with your contribution made it possible for Kosovo to be free and democratic today, since you chose not to close your eyes to tyranny and genocide. You not only helped strengthen democracy, but also saved lives”, said Osmani.
In the end, President Osmani said that her country is engaged in the direction of “strengthening democracy and spreading democratic values to preserve the pillars on which modern, prosperous societies are built and whose philosophy is focused on preserving and promoting human rights”.
The Democracy Summit took place for the first time in December 2021. This virtual summit brings together over 100 countries from around the world.
