Liberalization of visas for Kosovo, the decision is approved by the EP Committee for Civil Liberties and Internal Affairs

The Committee for Civil Liberties, Internal Affairs and Justice of the European Parliament gave the green light to the final approval of the legislation that will enable citizens of Kosovo to travel without visas to the EU to stay in European countries for up to 90 days within a period of 180 days.

In the committee of the European Parliament, 47 deputies voted for liberalization, 8 against and 4 abstained, while several weeks ago the liberalization of visas for Kosovo was also approved by the Ministers of the Interior of the European Union member states.

The liberalization is expected to be approved in the plenary session of the European Parliament, which is expected to be held in April.

After that, the decision will be published in the official gazette of the European Union. The decision to liberalize visas is expected to enter into force at the moment when the European digital system for information and travel authorization will start to be functional, which is most likely expected to happen at the beginning of 2024.
