Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met yesterday with the EU’s special envoy for the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, Miroslav Lajcak. The latter will be in Belgrade today as well, where he will meet again with the Serbian president.

But after the meeting they had yesterday, Vucic gave a statement to the media where he said that the European proposal and the formation of the Union of Serbian Municipalities were discussed, as well as other steps for the normalization of relations between Serbs and Albanians.

“President Vucic emphasized that Serbia is working responsibly and is committed to negotiating to reach compromise and sustainable solutions for a normal life and a better future for all citizens, with clearly defined limits”, the statement reads.

But it is emphasized that the formation of the Association is a prerequisite for the normalization of relations between the two countries as well as for the security and protection of the rights of the Serbian people. After the meeting, Vucic announced on his Instagram profile that the conversation was difficult and meaningful.

“We will continue the talks about Kosovo and Metohija and the European future of Serbia tonight and tomorrow. Long live Serbia!” Vucic writes.

On the other hand, Kurti expressed his readiness to sign an agreement that would bring about the normalization of relations between the two countries. But the Serbian president has categorically denied the possibility of achieving mutual recognition.
