Serbian President, Aleksandar Vucic said on Friday that Serbia is ready to accept and implement the concept of the European proposal for the normalization of relations with Kosova.

He made these comments after the meeting with the American and European envoys who had visited Prishtina earlier in the day.

“An open and serious discussion. What we agreed on is that a frozen conflict is not a solution and that when you have a frozen conflict, it is only a matter of time before someone melts it and irresponsible individuals will undermine peace and stability in the Western Balkans,” he emphasized, while adding that as president of Serbia, it was made clear to him by the five international diplomats what challenges and problems Serbia would face “if we did not agree with the proposed plan”.

“Under these conditions, we asked the representatives of the USA, France, Germany and Italy, plus Lajcak, to help us all to overcome the turbulence we are facing in Kosovo and Metohija, and we believe that it is high time we formed the Association of Serbian Municipalities, which was not only promised, but also signed 10 years ago, and it is urgent, because only after that it is possible to return to the institutions and talk about a normalization of the situation,” Vucic was quoted as saying.

Speaking further about the content of the meeting, Vucic added that “I said that in the coming days and weeks, consultations will be held with the cabinet of the Government of Serbia, the Assembly and with all important social groups, that we are ready to accept the concept and work for the implementation of the proposed agreement, but I made one thing very clear and I showed all the concern and reserve for an important issue, but I cannot disclose it since the proposal is not public,” said Vucic.
