EU: The situation in the north of Kosova remains fragile, parties should implement the agreements reached through the dialogue

The spokeswoman of the EU for Foreign Policy, Nabila Massrali, has asked Kosova and Serbia that with the calming of the situation in the north, the parties should return to the dialogue.
The EU spokeswoman said that the situation in the north remains fragile and therefore the two countries should start implementing all the agreements reached during the dialogue as the only way to maintain calm and peace in the region.
Massrali said that EULEX continues to monitor the situation to avoid actions that have the potential to turn into violence.
“We have welcomed the easing of tensions and the removal of barricades in the north of Kosova. The EU has played an active role in achieving this, in coordination with the US and KFOR. The situation continues to remain fragile and we expect all parties to restrain themselves and maintain calm to avoid actions that have the potential to turn escalation or violence. EULEX continues to monitor the situation. The developments of the last few weeks have shown how important it is to make real and irreversible progress towards the normalization of relations between Kosova and Serbia based on the EU proposal. This also requires the implementation of all existing agreements reached through the dialogue to be done without delay, starting with the return of Kosova Serbs to the Kosova institutions and the beginning of the discussion over the Association of Municipalities with a Serbian majority. The EU will work with both sides on these issues,” said Massrali.
