EU: The situation in the North is still fragile, the Serbs should return to institutions

The European Commission believes that the situation in the North of Kosovo, even after the removal of the barricades, is still fragile. At least this is what the spokeswoman of the European Union for Foreign Policy, Nabila Massrali, declared during a press conference. She reiterated that the European Commission has welcomed the de-escalation of the situation in Kosovo, underlining the fact that the EU has played an active role in recent events, thus coordinating with the United States of America and the NATO Mission in Kosovo ( KFOR).
“The situation is really fragile and we call on both sides to refrain so that the situation remains calm and to avoid all actions that would have the potential to bring back violence and escalation”, declared Massrali. The North, the EU spokeswoman said has shown how important it is for the parties to commit to the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia, based on the Franco-German proposal.
“The parties must respect the agreements reached before in the framework of the dialogue, which means the formation of the Association of Municipalities with a Serbian Majority and the return of Serbs to the institutions of Kosovo”, she declared.
