The situation in the north of Kosova has become even tense. While work was being done to remove the barricades to Jarinja and Bërnjak border crossing points, the Serbs added new barricades, blocking the border point in Merdare as well as in the Boshnjak Quarter of north of Mitrovica.

The barricades placed at the border point of Merdare have left many citizens stranded, as this border point with Serbia is largely used by the Kosovar diaspora for entry and exit from Kosova.

Also, the barricades placed in the Boshniak Quarter, a multi-ethnic settlement where Albanians, Serbs and Bosniaks live, are the first to be placed inside the northern part of the city of Mitrovica in the north of Kosova.

For 19 days, the border points in the north of Kosova have been blocked by the barricades set up by the Serbs, despite international calls for their removal.
