Tensions in the north, barricades still block the roads and a protest against Kosova in Belgrade

The situation in the north of Kosova continues to be fragile, where the barricades are still there preventing the passage of vehicles and pedestrians. Roads are blocked for the 4th consecutive day, while schools are still closed due to the tense situation.
Trucks and heavy vehicles have been placed in the middle of the road to prevent passage to the Jarinje and Bërnjak border points that connect with Serbia. During the evening, the situation was calm and there were no aggravations.
At the same time in Belgrade, dozens of Serbs have gathered near the “Saint Sava” church, protesting against Kosova. They sang nationalist songs and took to the streets to support the Serbian community in the north of Kosova.
Tensions were caused by the arrest of a Serb, for involvement in attacks against officials of the Central Election Commission in the north of Kosova. This led the Serbs to block the main roads in the north by setting up barricades and bombed the Kosova police and a EULEX patrol.
The internationals have called for the barricades to be removed and the parties to refrain from provocative statements and acts and to return to dialogue.
