Kurti warns Brnabic not to make divisive statements, aimed at tensioning and destabilizing the situation in the north

The Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabic is paying a one-day visit to the Serbian-majority municipalities in the north of Kosovo today, on September 5. This visit was also commented by the prime minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, who warned her not to make divisive statements aimed at tensioning and destabilizing the situation in the north.

Referring to the statements of the Serbian chief negotiator in the dialogue, Petar Petkovic, Kurti said that Brnabic should not follow the same example, but focus on a better life of the citizens.

“I expect that Ms. Brnabic will not continue the behavior of the chief negotiator from Belgrade, who gave divisive statements, aimed at tension and destabilization. We need to focus on a better lives for citizens. I believe that the Government of the Republic of Kosovo with me as Prime Minister has done more in less than a year and a half than any previous government in terms of hiring people from minority or non-majority communities, but here we have a difficulty, because employment has often gone according to political parties, not according to nationality”, said Kurti.

From September 1, Serbs and Kosovo Albanians move only with ID in Serbia and Kosovo, while the reciprocity of Serbian license plates has also come into force, where Kurti appealed to Serbs to convert illegal license plates into Kosovo ones.
