Kurti-Vucic agreement on IDs comes into force, citizens travel with ID! Entry into Kosovo with Serbian license plates is prohibited

The agreement between Serbia and Kosovo on identity cards comes into force today (September 1). According to the agreement reached on August 27 between Prime Minister Albin Kurti and President Aleksandër Vucic with the mediation of the special emissary for dialogue of the European Union, Miroslav Lajcak and the American special envoy for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, from today the citizens of both countries can move freely only with ID cards.
The news was first announced by the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell, who said that Kosovo and Serbia agreed that Serbia should abolish entry/exit documents for Kosovo ID holders, and Kosovo agreed not to introduce them to Serbian ID holders.
But as far as the license plate issue is concerned, there is no agreement between the two countries. In this context, from today (September 1), the government’s decision on Serbian license plates comes into force. On August 30, the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, appealed to the Serbs to convert the illegal license plates into those of Kosovo.
