Official Skopje addresses EU: Do not block Albania talks with Bulgarian veto on us

“European Union member states should allow Albania to open membership negotiations and not victimize it due to the Bulgarian veto on North Macedonia”.That is the latest statement of members of the  government, reported to the Macedonian media.

The statement refers to the well-known principle of the European bloc that aspiring countries should be evaluated on the basis of individual merits of progress in reforms.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Macedonia, Bujar Osmani, stated on Monday that he expects constructive talks with the new government in the Republic of Bulgaria.
The Macedonian official mentioned the restoration of trust, talks on key issues on the table and the rapid unblocking of the process.
“This is the most important thing for us,” Osmani outlined.

Asked by reporters if a meeting with Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov was scheduled, Osmani clarified that communication would intensify in the first days and weeks of this year. However, he stressed, the new government must be voted in the Assembly. The latter paved the way for formal meetings between the next prime minister and government representatives.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Minister stressed that preparatory activities will be carried out for the implementation of these activities immediately after the formation of the new government.
