U.S. officials have reaffirmed their commitment to NATO, including the U.S. presence in Europe, emphasizing the importance of maintaining strong deterrence and defense capabilities within the alliance, a NATO official told KosovaPress.

In a written response, the official also highlighted that the U.S. expects NATO allies to contribute more, by investing and producing more, in support of collective security.

“NATO is constantly adapting to an evolving environment. This is essential for staying prepared. Our commitment to stability throughout the Western Balkans remains unwavering. KFOR continues to fulfill its mandate, as defined by UN Resolution 1244, to create a safe environment for all communities in Kosovo, ensuring freedom of movement at all times and impartially. This is done in close coordination with the Kosova Police and the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosova, in their respective security roles. The United States continues to play a critical role within KFOR, contributing over 600 troops as part of its long-standing engagement,” the NATO official said.
