NATO Secretary General Visits Sarajeva, Kosova on Tuesday

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte begins his first Balkans visit today since taking office in October 2024, with stops in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosova.
During his visit to Prishtina, Rutte will be accompanied by his deputy, Radmila Shekerinska, and the ambassadors of the North Atlantic Council. He is expected to meet with top leaders, including President Vjosa Osmani and Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
These visits are aimed at reaffirming NATO’s unwavering commitment to the security and stability of these countries.
Before heading to Prishtina, Rutte will meet with students at the University of Sarajeva.
Regarding the current situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, NATO emphasized that Rutte’s visit on March 10 highlights the Alliance’s commitment to “Bosnia and Herzegovina, regional stability, and the Dayton Agreement. We strongly support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state. Stability and security in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and a peaceful Western Balkans, are in our strategic interest. We will not allow the creation of a security vacuum, nor will we allow the peace achieved through great efforts to be threatened“.
