President Osmani and PM Kurti Celebrate Kosovo’s Journey to Sovereignty and Progress

On Monday, Kosovo’s state leaders commemorated the centuries-long sacrifices of the Albanian people for freedom and independence. President Vjosa Osmani and Prime Minister Albin Kurti participated in the solemn flag-raising ceremony marking the 17th anniversary of Kosovo’s independence.

Osmani stated, “Nothing can halt a free and sovereign Kosovo.”

She added, “Today is also a day when we, from the heart, offer eternal gratitude to all those who sacrificed and gave everything so that today we can celebrate this sacred and historic day together. From the architect of independence, the historic president, and legendary commander Adem Jashari, who led the Kosovo Liberation Army, to every citizen of our republic who sacrificed with effort and blood for this day to be realized. We will continue to move forward because nothing can stop our free, independent, sovereign, and eternal republic. Congratulations,” said Osmani.

Prime Minister Albin Kurti remarked that Kosovo’s economy “is three times larger than it was 17 years ago, and at the same time, we are an example of security.”

“A cold winter, but warm hearts as we celebrate the 17th anniversary of Kosovo’s independence, marking the establishment of a sovereign democratic state, with territorial integrity, social progress, democratic advancement, and exemplary economic growth. Kosovo’s economy is three times larger than it was 17 years ago, but at the same time, we stand as a model for security, not only within the Balkans but also in safeguarding citizens’ rights, their well-being, the enthusiasm of our people, and the successes of our republic—successes that belong to the people, the institutions, and our partners,” said Kurti.
