UK Reaffirms Strong Support for Kosovo’s Sovereignty and Euro-Atlantic Aspirations at UN

The United Kingdom has consistently demonstrated its support for the Republic of Kosovo, a position reaffirmed during the recent visit of UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy. In a statement before the United Nations Security Council, British representative Fergus Eckersley underscored the peaceful conduct of Kosovo’s recent elections and reiterated the UK’s commitment to supporting Kosovo’s integration into Euro-Atlantic institutions. Furthermore, Eckersley welcomed Kenya’s recognition of Kosovo’s independence and encouraged other states to consider similar steps.
In his address, Eckersley called on Serbian authorities to ensure accountability for the attacks against KFOR personnel and to fully cooperate with Kosovar institutions in investigating the assault on the Ibër-Lepenc canal. In parallel, United States representative John Kelley emphasized the imperative for both Kosovo and Serbia to de-escalate tensions and to engage in constructive dialogue aimed at achieving mutual recognition, which is deemed essential for long-term regional stability and prosperity.
