Kosova Bishop Dodë Gjergji Sends Easter Blessings, Urging Peace, Hope, and Reconciliation

Kosova Bishop Dodë Gjergji extended heartfelt Easter wishes to Catholic believers, encouraging them to celebrate the holy occasion with prayers for peace and hearts filled with hope and joy.
In his message, Bishop Dodë Gjergji called for global peace and reconciliation, emphasizing these as a shared goal for the betterment of humanity.
“Even though this Easter finds us in a world torn by conflict, in a divided Europe, and in a Kosova burdened by political irresponsibility, uncertainty about the future, and unnecessary divisions, we are called to preserve the peace of the soul, the brightness of hope, and the comfort of faith. Because we, who have believed in the Risen Christ, are called to become the force that stands the test of time, no matter how difficult it may be,” he stated.
Bishop Dodë Gjergji further noted that Easter is more than just a date on the calendar or a tradition observed annually, but a living event that shapes our lives.
“We are all aware and accept that peace is more valuable than war, love is stronger than hate, and life is mightier than death. We pray, knowing we may not change the entire world, but we can change ourselves and the way we navigate this world. And this is enough to become a reflection of the One who transforms hearts, sanctifies time, and saves humanity from death, becoming a living sign of the presence of the Risen Christ among us. With these heartfelt prayers, I wish that the Easter of the Risen Christ fills your hearts with love, hope, and true joy. He has risen, as He said. Hallelujah!” he concluded.
Easter’s date varies each year, as it is determined based on a formula tied to the spring equinox and the full moon, falling on the first Sunday after the full moon that occurs after March 21. Easter remains a time of joy and hope, celebrating life, rebirth, and divine love.
