Vucic: Albanians Push Hard for Kosova Recognition with Western Backing

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has announced that he will soon reveal what he called “surprising developments” regarding Kosova’s international status.
In an interview with Radio Television of Serbia, Vucic addressed a range of topics, from domestic politics and EU integration to long-term development projects, pensions, and regional affairs.
Focusing on the latter, the Serbian president expressed concern over what he described as “a harsh Albanian offensive” for the recognition of Kosova’s independence. He claimed this effort is being carried out with the support of Western powers and Turkey, while Serbia is struggling to counter it.
“It’s extremely difficult to oppose this. We don’t have the money they do, or the weapons and resources they use around the world to buy votes or recognition,” Vucic said.
He added that Serbia is doing all it can to support its citizens in light of what he sees as mounting pressure on countries to recognize Kosova’s independence.
Turning to recent incidents in Kosova, events Belgrade claims target the Serbian community; Vucic criticized the international response as “loud silence”.
