Central Bank of Kosovo: Albanian Investments in Kosovo Increase, Now the Fifth Largest Investor

Investments from Albania in Kosovo have experienced significant growth, reaching €468 million by the end of 2024.
Official data from the Central Bank of Kosovo (CBK) indicate a 26% increase compared to 2023.
This growth has propelled Albania to fifth place among Kosovo’s largest investors, surpassing many countries from the region and beyond. Kosovo has become the leading destination for Albanian investments outside Albania’s borders.
By sector, the construction industry receives the largest share of Albanian capital, accounting for about 13% of the total. Real estate follows with 8%, manufacturing with 7.7%, and trade with approximately 5%.
Data for the finance and energy sectors remain confidential, but these are believed to represent a significant part of the investments.
Analysts attribute the rise in Albanian investments to several factors: easier cross-border movement, strong cultural and linguistic ties, and a more favorable business environment in Kosovo.
Institutional cooperation between Albania and Kosovo has also intensified significantly over the past decade.
So far, Albania and Kosovo have signed over 180 cooperation agreements across various fields—including economy, energy, transport, education, regional integration, and security. These agreements have fostered a stable environment for investment growth and mutual economic development.
Experts expect this positive trend to continue, with new projects in infrastructure, energy, and other strategic sectors further strengthening economic ties between the two countries.
