Albania Sees Rise in Foreign Workers, Driven by Labor Demand

The growing demand for labor in several economic sectors has made Albania a preferred destination for foreign workers.
Data from the National Employment and Skills Agency show a steady increase in foreign employment. By the end of 2024, over 13,000 foreign nationals worked in Albania. Most of them are active in accommodation, food services, construction, trade, and light industry.
Employers recruit foreign workers mainly for roles such as bartenders, waiters, cooks, and kitchen assistants. These jobs often require basic or intermediate education.
Foreign nationals come from a wide range of countries. Turkey, Italy, Kosova, the Philippines, and India rank among the most common countries of origin.
At the same time, the “e-Albania” platform has helped streamline the hiring process. The “Unique Permit” service now allows businesses to complete documentation faster and more efficiently.
