Western Balkan Leaders Gather in Skopje to Accelerate Implementation of EU Growth Plan

Leaders of the six Western Balkan countries have arrived in Skopje, North Macedonia. They will meet with EU Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos. The goal is to push forward the EU Growth Plan for the region.
Talks will last two days. North Macedonia’s Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski will first meet Commissioner Kos. Later, they will join the leaders of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Serbia, and Montenegro.
On Tuesday, two panel sessions will take place. The first will cover the EU Growth Plan for the Western Balkans. The second will focus on tools and support needed to carry it out.
The EU Growth Plan aims to boost economic development. It also helps prepare Western Balkan countries for EU membership.
The plan offers €6 billion in funding. It supports reforms and investments in key areas like energy, transport, and digital transformation. The six countries will receive this support through grants and soft loans.
