Leaders from the Western Balkans and top European Union officials have gathered in  Skopje, North Macedonia, for a key summit on the Growth Plan for the region. The agenda focuses on economic cooperation, reforms, and steps toward integration into the regional common market.

Prime Minister Edi Rama, along with other Balkan leaders, is taking part in the event. They were welcomed by the Prime Minister of the Republic of  North Macedonia, Hristijan Mickoski. The main meeting opened with the theme “Stability, Unity, Future.” Both Prime Minister Mickoski and EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos addressed the participants at the start.

The summit highlights the implementation and progress of the Growth Plan. It also explores proposals for new regional initiatives. Economic cooperation remains at the core, especially through the Regional Common Market.

Discussions are split into two panels. The first panel, “The Growth Plan: Assessment, Next Steps, and Communication,” reviews all key pillars of the Growth Plan. It includes proposed initiatives under Pillar 1, such as tourism, consumer protection, and the “Common Market Highway.” It also discusses deeper links with the Regional Common Market.

Prime Minister Rama and other leaders are actively participating in this panel.

The second panel, “Deepening the Growth Plan Pillars,” brings together EU Affairs Ministers, EU representatives, regional organizations, and key implementation partners.

With  North Macedonia hosting this high-level gathering, the focus remains clear: advancing cooperation, strengthening reforms, and bringing the Western Balkans closer to the European Union.
