Osmani: Humanitarian Catastrophe in Gaza Must End

President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, called for an end to the humanitarian catastrophe and the suffering of innocent civilians in Gaza.
In a statement posted on X, Osmani expressed Kosovo’s support for ceasefire efforts led by the United States, Qatar, and Egypt. She also urged the immediate release of all hostages.
“In the meantime, ensuring access to food, water, and medicine for the most vulnerable must remain a priority to ease the suffering of innocents caused by violence,” she said.
The war in Gaza began on October 7, 2023, when Hamas militants — designated a terrorist group by the U.S. and EU — attacked southern Israel, killing around 1,200 people and taking nearly 250 hostages. Some hostages remain in captivity.
Israel’s military response has killed over 59,000 Palestinians. The densely populated Gaza Strip, home to more than 2 million people, now faces a severe humanitarian crisis. International organizations have raised alarms over widespread malnutrition.
Osmani said Kosovo supports all international efforts for a just, peaceful, and sustainable future, where “Israelis and Palestinians can live with dignity, security, and mutual respect, committed to protecting human life.”
“Until that future is achieved, every effort must be made to prevent further loss of innocent life and alleviate suffering,” she added.
Osmani’s comments follow a public request by the Association of Journalists of Kosovo (AGK), which urged both her and acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti to publicly condemn the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the killing of civilians and journalists.
On Sunday, Israel announced a “limited tactical pause” in its military operations to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza. Meanwhile, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates dropped 25 tons of aid by air to address the worsening famine.
