British Embassy in Prishtina Praises Kosova Security Force and KFOR Coordination in Ujmani Lake Operation

The British Embassy praised the coordination between Kosova Security Force (FSK) and KFOR during the search operation at Ujmani Lake.

The embassy described the operation as proof of the Force’s search and rescue capabilities. It noted the operation complies with long-term agreements between KFOR and FSK.

The embassy commended KFOR for providing support and security throughout the operation. It expressed condolences to the family of the man who tragically lost his life. It stressed that the UK fully supports KFOR’s mission to maintain a safe environment for all people and communities in Kosovo.

Close cooperation between KFOR, FSK, Kosova Police, and EULEX remains crucial for KFOR’s mission success.

On July 29, FSK found the body of a person who reportedly fell from a bridge into Ujmani Lake on Sunday.

Specialized FSK teams joined the operation on the third day, after KFOR authorized the humanitarian mission.

FSK troops may only deploy in the farthest north Serb-majority areas with prior KFOR approval. This is based on a 2013 commitment between the Kosova Government and NATO.

Ujmani Lake lies in Zubin Potok, one of four farthest north Kosovan municipalities with Serb majorities.
