The Albanian government approved the National Tourism Strategy 2030 today.

Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro shared the news through a video message. She confirmed that the strategy is the result of nearly two years of research, analysis, and consultations.

“This is a concrete plan,” said Kumbaro. “It sets clear and measurable goals to increase tourism revenue by 2030.”

The strategy focuses on growth. It aims to expand accommodation capacity, improve tourism standards, and boost regional development. It also outlines new responsibilities for public agencies involved in tourism.

To guide this effort, the strategy is built on six main pillars:

• Promoting investment
• Improving fiscal and regulatory policies
• Managing tourist destinations
• Developing tourism products
• Marketing destinations
• Building institutional capacity

These priorities rest on three core principles: social inclusion, environmental protection, and economic development.

Importantly, the plan divides Albania into six tourism regions:

• Adriatic Coast
• Northern Inland
• Tirana Region
• Central Region
• Ionian Coast
• Southern Inland

The government has already completed a public consultation process. Stakeholders from across the tourism sector contributed to the final draft.

Minister Kumbaro thanked all contributors. “I thank the Ministry’s team, our national experts, and our international partners, especially GIZ. Their support is crucial for building sustainable tourism in Albania,” she said.
