Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani Calls on Political Parties to Form Parliament

President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, urged parliamentary parties to form the new Assembly. She emphasized that they must set aside differences and prioritize Kosovo’s interests by creating a majority that moves the country forward.

Six months after the February 9 elections, Kosovo still lacks new institutions. Last week, deputies failed for the 58th time to constitute the ninth legislature, despite a second ruling from the Constitutional Court.

In an interview with Polish broadcaster TVP World in Alpbach, Austria, Osmani called it unfortunate that citizens still do not have the parliament they voted for and that their will remains unfulfilled.

She attributed the political deadlock to polarization and a lack of mutual trust.

Osmani also spoke about Kosovo’s EU integration, stating that the country is ready to join the European Union.

Regarding protests in Serbia, Osmani warned that these demonstrations will affect the entire region.

She accused Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić of stirring trouble in neighboring countries whenever he faces domestic problems, using nationalist rhetoric to present himself as a savior.

Osmani noted that Vučić often acts contrary to his promises. Finally, she stressed the importance of Kosovo obtaining candidate status for EU membership.
