Education Minister, Manastirliu: New Curriculum Introduces Artificial Intelligence from Fourth Grade

Education Minister Ogerta Manastirliu stated that with the newly approved curriculum, students will begin learning the basics of artificial intelligence starting in fourth grade. She was present today (27 August) at “Isa Boletini” School in Paskuqan, Tirana, where she discussed this innovation and highlighted ongoing investments in expanding smart laboratory networks in schools.
Manastirliu explained that for the past three years, an ICT program has been running from first grade. She added that recent technological developments allowed the education system to monitor students’ coding achievements in real time. She noted that around 35,000 children have learned coding, and the new curriculum for fourth grade will, for the first time, introduce foundational knowledge in artificial intelligence.
The minister also mentioned that the distribution of free textbooks continues in schools. She said that approximately 236,000 students benefit each year from the “Free Textbooks” program.
